Shannon Sommer Underwriter at Lawley Buffalo

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County to celebrate six women who are positively impacting the lives of others in the community

Buffalo, N.Y. (April 19, 2016) – Lawley is pleased to announce Shannon Sommer, underwriter in the employee benefits branch, as a recipient of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County’s Women Who Move the City award. Shannon will be one of six women honored on Wednesday, April 20 at Buffalo RiverWorks.

Shannon has been a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County (BBBSEC) since May of 2014. Additionally, she also serves as a volunteer teacher for Junior Achievement of WNY, where she teaches elementary-aged middle school kids about entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work readiness. Shannon also dedicates time volunteering with Blessed Sacrament Parish in Tonawanda and the Alzheimer’s Association.

For nearly five years, Shannon has worked as an underwriter in Lawley’s employee benefits division. She analyzes medical and pharmacy claims for clients and works to help them understand their health plan performance while better managing their health care costs.

Shannon resides in Tonawanda, N.Y. with her husband, Jon.
