It’s mid-January and the brutal cold of winter is finally here. If you’re anything like me, you’re doing your best to not let your New Year’s resolutions fade away.
Like so many others, I’ve set a resolution for my personal life, but I have also made a resolution to improve myself in the professional setting. In both of these journeys, I’m trying my best to follow some basic tips so that I can actually stick to my resolutions and be successful.
“Do it with passion, or not at all”
Have you ever had an experience where you knew your service provider was passionate about their job? You can see the pride they take in their work and your experience with them leaves you feeling confident in the work or service they provide. They have a way of making you feel special – who wouldn’t want to be a part of that! Whether in my personal journey or in my professional, I try to have a sense of passion in my actions.
Set measurable goals
Be sure you can calculate your success. It’s important to set small goals to keep yourself fueled in order to reach your larger goal. To do this, set obtainable goals that are recognizable so you know when you’ve accomplished them. For me, this would be taking the extra step, whether literally on the treadmill or at work by recognizing a situation where I can do more, and I follow through and do it.
Celebrate the small victories
When you celebrate the small wins, it gives you the satisfaction and confidence to keep on going. Maybe you have a goal to lose weight; once you lose a specified amount, reward yourself. Mastered a task on the job? Fantastic, celebrate your success with a friend!
