A Healthier Summer Smoothie

With more and more smoothie shops opening up and new blenders on the market, smoothies are becoming a trendy new meal for breakfast, or an afternoon pick-me-up. But not all smoothies are healthy and nutritious—depending on what is added to the blender, some can include over 500 calories and 50 grams of sugar. For example, don’t be fooled by something colored green—at Jamba Juice, the Greens ‘n Ginger smoothie contains lemonade and had 66 grams of sugar and 330 calories in a 16-oz cup.  Rather than buying an expensive smoothie at a popular chain, which can contain added sugars and extra, unwanted calories, consider taking a healthier approach by creating your own DIY smoothie that you know is made with fresh and natural ingredients. Here is a healthier summer smoothie recipe courtesy of the Lawley Wellness Team.
